It's been a few months since we've met here on my blog...and it's all in GREAT reason! Since you last visited here, I've had some pretty awesome changes in life!
First and foremost, I received my Certified Personal Trainer certification (from the National Association of Sports Medicine, aka NASM) - YAY! I want to also add that I for SURE thought I failed that exam...it wasn't that it was terribly difficult - rather, that I was in the middle of battling a flu (yes, I went to take the exam with a fever, body aches, FLU). I had no idea, I just thought it was a cold catching up to me. In the middle of the exam, I felt my eyes trying to close; I had to take off my sweater from being so hot. I'm pretty sure I guessed the last 10 questions, too! Luckily, I was prepared enough to pass despite this flu! (I did spend a good 5 hours napping after the exam, but it was definitely a happy day!).
Since I passed, I began teaching and training at a local personal training gym in my neighborhood. My two regular and FAVORITE classes are a Full Body Sculpt class on Tuesdays, and a Booty and Abs calls on Thursdays. The latter is pretty popular with the ladies...and I've been called the "booty whisperer" lately. I'm not mad about it 8-) (wow, it's been a while since I've used unicode emoticons for "emojis" LOL). My girls tell me they have trouble moving, sitting on the toilet, and standing up straight for a few days post-class.
I've also upped my own number of personal clients that come to my apartment gym (it's pretty awesome here, luckily!). Needless to say, I've come a long way in the last few months, post-exam. If you know me, you know I am still a corporate recruiter by day. This two-job thing, my friends, has been a huge shift for me - whereas I used to have all evenings to myself to relax and recover, I now have to teach and train. Again, I'm not mad about it; rather, I'm super grateful and excited about what's to come next...
I've also been piloting a wellness challenge group, working with a group of 12 BRAVE soldiers who are testing out a 30-day whole-foods-based diet that I'm leading. We're about a quarter in and my warriors have already seen some great changes, including weight loss, less bloating, more awareness of food labels, and overall FEELING better! I'll be sharing more updates with you guys soon, so stay tuned!
